Helmsdale opening day ceremony – Cancellation

The Helmsdale River Board regretfully has been obliged to cancel the public Open Days Ceremony in the High St due to start on 10am on Monday 12th January.  The weather is snowy and unpredictable, and the High St. is icy and inhospitable.

After consultation with community members the piper-led anglers parade event has been cancelled.

The Open Days with free fishing for those who sign in at Glencoast for 2 weeks through till 24th January, an established tradition, will remain.

However at present time the Board stresses strongly that the river is unfishable, high and rising, containing ice slabs and grue, and dangerous to approach.
